My Bio
Originally from upstate NY, now living in Eugene OR. Have been drawing since I can remember. A few years ago I began painting, and now am trying my hand at wood working. Sometimes I think it would be smart and just focus on one medium in an attempt to become semi proficient, but I get engrossed in one craft form shortly, and then another takes my attention. Even made some stuffed animals at one point. Trying to find a marketable approach with wood at the moment..

Some artwork is for sale on Etsy:

On Thursday my first open showing at Oakshire Public House will be closing. I still have several pieces that did not sell and will be coming home with me to fill my walls once again. However for the first time my finances are in the black as far as this enterprise goes. And with a generally positive response, I have a better idea of what works and what needs improvement. So it's back to the drawing board.

Back to work

0 min read
Living in Eugene, OR. Looking for work. I am going to be building up a collection of intarsia, segmenting and children's puzzles to take to market. I know many of my pieces are looking pretty rough, but I'm hoping in time with some practice... or a lot of practice, I can refine my style. The difficulty in being that  I like to try so many different things that I have no style to start with. Plus I'm poor and can't afford all the tools I would like.... or maybe I'm just lacking in natural talent. At any rate, I'm gonna keep on trying. If anyone has any project ideas I could try, let me know and I might give it a go.

I'm trying to find the medium and style that I  enjoy most. Then perhaps I can practice one art form until I like the final product.

You have a beautiful gallery
It's been a good day so far. I shall see how the rest plays out.
Hello Marshall !
Welcome on DA !
Your wood puzzles are just amazing and perfect. I add you to my watch list, hoping to see more and more beautiful things. Have a nice day !
Well thank you. I still have plenty to learn.
Haha ! So i'm looking forward to see what you'll be able to do later. When have you started to work with wood ? Are you art student or maybe 'cabinet worker' (I'm not sure about this word) student ? Or just hobbyist (hobbyist with a good knack in this case) ?
hobbyist would suffice. I started working with wood last summer. all i have are some hand saws and a power scroll saw. i know i could do much more advanced pieces if i had the workshop space and machinery. right now i sit on the floor hunched over a small saw working with cheap lumber.
